Ready, Set, Simple!

What is that orange icon? What does it mean to “subscribe?

The internet is evolving. You came to my web site by either typing in my web address, www.watzzupsport.com  or you clicked on a link from another site, such as from a search engine. You may not be aware that my blog (and just about every other blog) is also “published” by what is known as Real Simple Syndication, or RSS.

Instead of using a web browser (like Firefox or Internet Explorer) to go directly to websites, people are starting to use a RSS reader (a.k.a. a RSS aggregator) and are accessing the information on websites indirectly.
This is accomplished by either installing a piece of software on your computer (the RSS reader) or by using an online, browser-based RSS reader.

What’s the advantage?

You can subscribe to a blog and your RSS reader will go out and pick up every new article published by that blogger - automatically. In fact, you can subscribe to as many blogs as you like, and this is what makes the RSS reader so appealing. It saves you time. It delivers your new blog articles “fresh off the press.” It helps you organize your web content, and it gives you the control - you can unsubscribe to a blog whenever you want.

You need to find, download, and install a RSS reader. Google it - there’s a lot out there. Two of the leading RSS readers are Bloglines and Google Reader - and they’re free.
Then you click on that orange RSS icon in the upper left hand corner of this blog. You will be asked what RSS reader you use; and after making your selection, your subscription is automatic until you cancel.

Ten Tips for Optimum Athletic Recovery

       1. Drink water, all you care for, before during and after engaging in

       strenuous activity

       2. Eat fruit upon completion of activity to bring blood sugar back

to normal levels and provide sugar for conversion to muscle glycogen.

       3. Consume celery and/or tomatoes to provide necessary

sodium at least several times per week or as often as you participate

       in strenuous activity.

       4. When possible, rest after meals to foster optimum digestion.

       5. Remember, exercise does not provide energy, it requires energy.

Sleep as much as you desire.

       6. During long duration activities, drink sports drinks of fruit blended

with water. This works very well. For "ultra" events, add celery to the mixture.

       7. Monitor your water losses by using a scale to measure your weight before

        and after workouts.

       8. Raw foods provide the maximum nutrients for the minimal calories

encouraging the most rapid recovery. Gradually raise the raw percentage

of your diet until you approach or reach 100%.

       9. Develop the habit of going to bed earlier to obtain a good night's sleep.

      10. Keep meals simple for optimum digestion, and varied to insure optimum nutrition.
