Thanks for the comment Swayze, so true what you have to say there is many myths surrounding the nutritional needs of being a competitive athlete. The list of highly competitive and successful plant fuelled athletes range from, body builders to ultra marathon runners.

You can definitely thrive on raw foods as a competitive athlete. In fact, many people believe that you HAVE to be incredibly active to eat this way.

This couldn't be further from the truth. I "workout" (most of it is play, like when I play tennis, and a lot of it low intensity) less than 6 hours per week, yet I still thrive on raw foods. I feel great, get to eat tons of food, and still maintain a healthy weight.

you can absolutely be a raw vegan athlete. I have a friend who used to run 20km's a day in less than 1.5 hours just for fun because she had so much energy. She cycles amazing amounts now. Doug Graham is a controversial author/athlete and while he doesn't look healthy to me he sure looks fit. Then there's Grant Campbell who has been a raw vegan for a few years now and runs Ultras, Harley Johnson who defies logic to many but gets good results on his bike. Once you scratch the surface... it's all there. xx
