Barefoot running is a very solid alternative to paying through the nose for industry hyped NEED for expensive footware.
I have been Barefoot running as a way of proving that what I speak about is based on fact, same as my journey through Raw foods lifestyle I see the benefits both from a health aspect, and a moral and Eco friendly point of view.
I have been a competitive athlete for a number of years, I have represented Australia for my age group at world Championship level and am a past State and National title holder.
One of the biggest hurdles for me was dealing with injury, both of a physical and mental nature.
I always struggled with calf problems, leading me to spend time on the side line recovering or coming back ,and if you have been a competitive athlete you know how hard it is to get back to a former state of performance.
You not only have to deal with the physical aspect but the mental side of it comes into play ,at times being even a greater barrier then the physical rehabilitation.
When I sat down and examined what was training physiology and where it comes from, what was nutrition and other established conventions of sport I found myself having the realization.
Traditional thinking on many aspects of sport and indeed life was controlled by large company product marketing that permeates the culture of athletic endeavor just the same way that corporate spin convinces us that a big Mac and fries are a healthy alternative to nutritional needs that do not get met by conscious eating habits.
So to prove that you can indeed run with out footware, get your nutritional needs from a plant based diet and still be a healthy individual I have,over the past couple of years been researching and transitioning to the place where I am at the moment.
As long as I continue forward I will log the journey here. I finally got the running sandal kit I ordered from Barefoot teds site and put them together that’s what the video reviews below.
Whereas I have not got all the ducks in a row as the saying goes I am supremely confident that the basic truth underpinning a raw food and conscious choice life style is not only good for you but imperative for the longevity of the planet and a healthy society.
I have struggled with depression to the extent that I lost my business and went through a period of self medication using alcohol as the vehicle, thanks to a wonderful friend at the time made me realize i was not making decisions that were in alignment with the spirit I am.
After the initial start with a Raw foods lifestyle it became apparent that it was something that agreed with me as I became less and less anxious about things, The need for alcohol just dropped away, I am not saying it was just the raw food regime that did that, but the clarity it gave me enabled other modalities of healing to be more effective.
My ability as a person to go through the challenges that I have been facing is all the more enhanced by the lifestyle I now adopt. I am always learning and finding out about what is needed to be more comfortable with what I am doing, I have to admit getting the information without the dogma or agenda that gets peddled it with, what, I know is a marginal or alternative can be confusing.
To that end I will continue to work through what works for me and the impact it has on my athletic pursuits and pass it on to who ever wants to take the time to read about it here.
