The Season Is off and running

Well the first Bribie Triathlon has been run for this season and for the first time in a long time i did not compete or attened it. It did not need my attendence anyway as it was the biggest turnout Phil has had there. All the old stalwarts were there manning the ramparts of multisport action. Wayne Hollaway my ole training buddy being knocked into a 4th spot for his age group. He did not like that and vows to be fit for the next one. Can”t give you much more info as i was not there, I opted to stay at Mt Mee at a training buddies house and go for a mountain run and MTB ride.

after Being in NZ recently it brings home how important hill strength training can be ( i was sore for days). I read an interesting article

Some of the surprising new findings in pain research indicate that:

  • Pain is not just a ‘signal’ from damaged tissues; it’s a multi-dimensional amalgamation and integration of biological, psychological and sociological factors;

  • How an individual interprets and reacts to pain has a very powerful influence over the pain and its outcome;

  • Exactly the same type of injury can produce very different levels of discomfort in different people. The amount of pain an injury produces is often completely unrelated to the amount of actual tissue damage;

  • Persistent, chronic pain associated with an injury is driven and maintained by mechanisms and changes that occur within the ‘circuitry’ of the central nervous system, and is often not a sign of any active, tissue injury;

  • Maladaptive (biologically unhelpful) pain can be caused by ‘active aberrant pain circuitry’, which can remain switched on in the central nervous system long after tissues have healed – ie hurt doesn’t always mean harm.

 All I know was i had to try and walk without a limp so as not to have my ego tromped.But again it does show that the brain is the one that you have to trick if you want to go harder. Your thoughts are you reality on and off the sporting arena, so think big, believe as you have recieved it, and so it shall be.
