Hi Everyone,
A quick note to let you all how the ride went.
In short, heaps of highs and one really low point{more on that soon}
First of all, 13 members turned out in club uniform for the ride today and we looked absolutely awesome.
Event photographers could not take enough photos of us as we looked so bloody good in our uniforms.
People were coming up to us all day asking where we got our uniforms from and where the club was based, and telling us the uniforms looked great.
After the ride, at the presentation, our club was awarded the best uniformed club of the ride and a trophy presented to us by Brisbane Lions Player Simon Black. That was one of the many great moments we had today.
Now for the low point.
With 1km of the ride to go, coach Richard, through no fault of his own, fell heavily off his bike and broke a bone in his left wrist, actually he shattered the bone in his wrist into five small pieces. He was transported by ambulance to the Mater hospital where x-rays were taken and his arm put in plaster.
He has to return to hospital for surgery in a few days where doctors will wire up the bones in his wrist and replaster his arm. Best case scenario for healing, 2 to 3 months.
Richard is home and resting, so please no phone calls.
Doctors have given him pain killers, which seem to be working.
He tells me he will be at swim training on Monday night, so we can all catch up then. I,ll have to trophy shield there as well.
This week, is a recovery week, which means light training.
There will be a light swim program for anyone interested, or we can play beach volleyball and I will bring my tennis rackets and balls along for those wanting a hit.
I,ll beat you this time Mark.
David Alders wife Lou took heaps of photos of the riders today, so it will be great to see how they turned out.
It the club members are interested it would be good to get a club photo of everyone in uniform, say on Wednesday night. depends if Richard will be there or not, so let me know your thoughts on this Monday night.
So there you have it. The many highs and the one low of yet another Brissietothebay Bike ride for the MS charity.
We will be there again next year as we have to return the perpetual shield, at least we have it for one year and everyone will know that the Australian Crawl Triathlon Club has the best club uniforms in Brisbane.
Will keep you posted. See you all out there.
