Sufers Paridise to Cooktown Kayak trip
Do you ever get into this time warp place, where you are going to do something
and the next time you look it is a week later or something like that,
darn that seems to happen to me all the time.
Life gets in the way of doing the things that really float ya boat,
instead of shaking your fist at a world that can seem so mind numbingly boring
filled with all the things you are supposed to do, you now buy a house,
have a nice car, save for the pension plan, yadda yadda !!!
It was great to meet a couple of guys who decided they would live
a dream and go on a small kayak paddle southport to cooktown actualy
only a short trip
I met up with Pete and Matt last week as I was going for a an Mtb ride
that took me down by the Pumicstone passage. Pete is an outdoor activities
guide and Matt is an intensive care nurse, who decided that they wanted to experience
life in a simple mode.
So a four month Kayak paddle up the east coast of Australia seemed to be a good thing
to do.
I saw the guys pull and had a yarn with them I took a bit of audio and
some pics, try as I might i could not get the audio onto the player a
technical challenge that has stymied me at this point in time.
The guys have only just started the trip it is not a sponsored passage
or anything other than two people stepping up and making life go the
way they want it they promised me a few pics on the way around
so I hope we can follow there journey
I caught up with them as they finished there lay day at Bribie Island it
was starting to get a good breeze going as they set of fortunately in the
right direction for them.
The offer to load all the gear into the back of my work ute for the haul to water was greatfully accepted as they had the other occupants of the caravan park staring at them strangely when they brought everything into the camp using a borrowed wheelbarrow.

As the lads stowed everything into the boats I wished them well,
said Bon voyage and headed back to work, knowing that my time was
coming soon to experience the sense of well being that goes along
with committing to a goal and to stepping up to the start line of life.

If you are a reader of this blog for any length of time you would know of
my upmost admiration for those who take on life,
and live the wonders that so few forget that is available.
There is no reason, not to be able find in life, the ability to live like there
is no tomorrow and dance like there is no one watching.
To be able to read stories of simple acts of courage, to amazing feats
of endurance, is a most uplifting thing to be able to understand
every action we take we are an event in some body else’s life.
Go out and get on the start line enjoy this wonderful thing called life
Caboolture Road Runners Results
Just Recently my local running club had its annual general meeting
and a new bunch of cherub faced individuals were voted in.
The long suffering Er !! I mean long serving stalwarts such as Mark
able to hand over the reins and go trek and cycle

Nepal with fellow club member Steve.
The need for a dedicated quorum of people has always been the bane
of any volunteer run club a fact not made easier by the stipulation of
laws that a club has to comply with to enable them to be covered by
insurance and conform to local laws
The present mob of pointy heads in charge have taken on the task of
establishing a risk management policy that has been thrashed out and
is now in the throes of being ratified and implemented.
This is the situations that come about for a small club when the powers
that be dictate a certain policy be in place.
It is a a burden on small clubs that have the genuine well being of local
community in mind and the love of the sport that they participate in.
The local north coast xcountry races have been great fun and a few
members have got along to enjoy the well run events

A race report From Audry from the Harvey clan
The Harveys went to the Caloundra Foreshore Run yesterday morning,
what a stunning place to run!! I did (Audry) the 10k in 53.58 which
is about 10 seconds slower than my best 10k but I was really happy
because I had no leg pain, yay!!.
Francis,(Dad) Kirsten and Cameron did the 3k in around 23 minutes,
but Francis paced them well and they managed to run all the way.
Robyn and Gundars, and Glen were there too.
Gundars and I went in the Caloundra Foreshore Fun Run (10 km) on Sunday, 25 May. It was a very scenic run with some good hills at the end!
We both made it but I don’t really think we want anyone to know our times though!!

Oceania Championship Brendon Wheelan
Caught up with Brendon at Caboolture running track
and managed to get him to stop running long enough
to share a bit about his upcomming races at the Oceania
championships
Ok I am back into the saddle so to speak. I have been on a road of recovery and dealing with issues that seem to take away the very spark of what find I enjoy about life. I have been back training and slowly slowly getting a bit of condition again. I was support crew for my training buddy at the recent Bribie Island Adventure race. I will write a bit more on it but for now you can see by the picture below low tide at the end of the kayak leg was fun for all those involved. Heading out now to help out at the aid stations for the Glasshouse Mountain Trail run. Again I will put up more content about the race later
