The Season Is off and running

October 27, 2005 · Filed Under MAIN PAGE · Comment

Well the first Bribie Triathlon has been run for this season and for the first time in a long time i did not compete or attened it. It did not need my attendence anyway as it was the biggest turnout Phil has had there. All the old stalwarts were there manning the ramparts of multisport action. Wayne Hollaway my ole training buddy being knocked into a 4th spot for his age group. He did not like that and vows to be fit for the next one. Can”t give you much more info as i was not there, I opted to stay at Mt Mee at a training buddies house and go for a mountain run and MTB ride.

after Being in NZ recently it brings home how important hill strength training can be ( i was sore for days). I read an interesting article

Some of the surprising new findings in pain research indicate that:

  • Pain is not just a ‘signal’ from damaged tissues; it’s a multi-dimensional amalgamation and integration of biological, psychological and sociological factors;

  • How an individual interprets and reacts to pain has a very powerful influence over the pain and its outcome;

  • Exactly the same type of injury can produce very different levels of discomfort in different people. The amount of pain an injury produces is often completely unrelated to the amount of actual tissue damage;

  • Persistent, chronic pain associated with an injury is driven and maintained by mechanisms and changes that occur within the ‘circuitry’ of the central nervous system, and is often not a sign of any active, tissue injury;

  • Maladaptive (biologically unhelpful) pain can be caused by ‘active aberrant pain circuitry’, which can remain switched on in the central nervous system long after tissues have healed – ie hurt doesn’t always mean harm.

 All I know was i had to try and walk without a limp so as not to have my ego tromped.But again it does show that the brain is the one that you have to trick if you want to go harder. Your thoughts are you reality on and off the sporting arena, so think big, believe as you have recieved it, and so it shall be.

When you think about all the possibilities there are in the world why is it our most common attitude is to express what can’t be done. Our thoughts are are realities so if we think we can’t the reality will be there to reinforce it

Above is a photo I took after a ferry ride to Russell in NZ’s Bay Of Islands area I should have been in Oz tending to my Business and dealing with my customers, but I decided that I wanted to go and i did, I will put up the link a little later to where I have posted more Photos and story. The point I want to make here is that you can have all the intention to be,and do, but its only when you make the leap, commit to an end result that you require does the universe conspire with you to bring it about. That goes for your first triathlon,  representing Australia, or any other aspect of your life. Be unafraid Be very unafraid.

Almost time to head back to Australia after spending some quality time in The Bay of Islands area. A kayaking mecca beautiful pristine waters miriads of inlets and coves to explore and trails to run.

Lesson learned about traveling and Internet connections can’t access email or load up pictures so when back will load up some great shots and some info on runs.

Found Bob & Sue’s Place on the Internet Needed a break.

Bay of Islands north Island place called           Te-Rawhiti, Parekura bay

Just been picking pipies from a wind blown shore, where the  winds are blowing the water into plumes of spray that race off down the bay as wild horses in a gallop.

Met Lisa and Roger who took me over a run over a track that made me cry I don’t have hills on Bribie, tasted home made smoked fish tell you more later

Just a thought to keep hold of

If a husband walks out of the house and he can still feel the imprint of his lovers arms around his body he’s invincible all day. It’s the special stuff with the inner circle that makes you strong and powerful and influential If a father walks out of the house and he can still feel his daughter’s kiss on his face all day, he’s a powerful man. So don’t miss that opportunity. Here’s the greatest value. The prophet said, “There are many virtues and values, but here’s the greatest, one person caring for another.” There is no greater value than love. Better to live in a tent on the beach with someone you love than to live in a mansion by yourself. One person caring for another, that’s one of life’s greatest expressions.

So make sure in your busy day to remember the true purpose and the reasons you do what you do. May you

truly live the kind of life that will bring the fruit and rewards that you desire

It has been a while since i have posted any thing, partley because i have been busy just doing it, but allso as I had been a bit dissapointed that the forum was not taken as a point of contact that i had hoped it would have been. Unfortuantly some low life opportunist took advantage of the fact that i had this blog set up for annonomous posting, to facilitate messages getting through, by posting unsuitable site links.

I have had to get rid of that formate, and if you recieved notification of new posts that had the links I do appologise and i have removed them. Many thanks to Becc for alerting me.

 As for contiuing with this blogg i have been asked to keep it going as aparently people actually do read it. I admitt to liking  putting info up and creating a record of what i consider to be great people doing great things.

People that have stepped up to starting block and said I am having a go prepared to challenge themselves committ to an excellence of their own choosing, I salute you all, we cannot all be podium finishers but partaking of life we all win.

    Ten Tips for Optimum Athletic Recovery

       1. Drink water, all you care for, before during and after engaging in

       strenuous activity

       2. Eat fruit upon completion of activity to bring blood sugar back

      to normal levels and provide sugar for conversion to muscle glycogen.

       3. Consume celery and/or tomatoes to provide necessary

       sodium at least several times per week or as often as you participate

       in strenuous activity.

       4. When possible, rest after meals to foster optimum digestion.

       5. Remember, exercise does not provide energy, it requires energy.

        Sleep as much as you desire.

       6. During long duration activities, drink sports drinks of fruit blended

       with water. This works very well. For "ultra" events, add celery to the mixture.

       7. Monitor your water losses by using a scale to measure your weight before

        and after workouts.

       8. Raw foods provide the maximum nutrients for the minimal calories

        encouraging the most rapid recovery. Gradually raise the raw percentage

        of your diet until you approach or reach 100%.

       9. Develop the habit of going to bed earlier to obtain a good night's sleep.

      10. Keep meals simple for optimum digestion, and varied to insure optimum nutrition.
